Tony Mitchell claims Dominican Rep. Santiago League weekly honour- April 21, 2021
The 28-year old forward had the game-high 17 points adding nine rebounds and five assists for CPN in his team's victory, helping them to crush Sameji (#6, 1-9) with 25-point margin 115-90. CPN is placed at 2nd position in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. CPN will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Mitchell had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at CPN, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of North Texas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Mitchell is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 9.8rpg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 68.6% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American Paris Bass (203-SF-95) of CDP. Bass impressed basketball fans with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as CDP was edged by GUG (6-4) 98-97. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. CDP still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Bass is one of the most experienced players at CDP and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.9ppg (#3). He also registered 7.5 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was another CPN's star - Victor Liz (193-SG-86). Liz showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the last round. He was another key player of CPN, helping his team with a 115-90 easy win against the lower-ranked Sameji (#6, 1-9). CPN needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Liz has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.9ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 7.6rpg (8th best) and assists with 4.1apg (8th best).
